Option 1: The easiest way to get to Villa Playa Los Naranjos is to take a taxi from either Simon Bolivar Airport or downtown Santa Marta. Just tell the driver that you are going to Finca Barlovento in Los Naranjos (“Por favor, nos lleva a Finca Barlovento en Los Naranjos”). Once you are here, ask the gate guard the way to Villa Playa Tayrona. Rates may vary, but expect to pay around 80,000cop if coming from downtown Santa Marta and 120,000cop if coming directly from the airport.
Option 2: You can also take the bus from the downtown market (Mercado público) of Santa Marta. The station is where Calle 11 meets Carrera 11. Tell the driver that you are going to Finca Barlovento in Los Naranjos and ask him to let you off the bus when you arrive (“Vamos a Finca Barlovento en Los Naranjos. Por favor, nos avisa cuando estemos por allá.”). This should only cost you 7,000cop. The bus will drop you off close to the main gate to Finca Barlovento. Ask the gate guard how to get to Villa Playa Tayrona. From the gate it is just a short walk on a road through tropical gardens, where you can enjoy views of tropical trees, butterflies, monkeys, and fruits, before arriving at Villa Playa Tayrona.
